The National Librarian, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has convened the 9th Conference of National Librarian with State Librarians and Chairmen of State Public Libraries. The conference which was organized in collaboration with the Katsina State Government under the Chairmanship of Honourable Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, was held at the Bello Kofar Conference Hall in the state’s secretariat from 1st to 2nd September 2025.

The conference themed, Repositioning Nigerian Public Libraries: Innovation, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Partnership involved the presentation of topical papers, presentation of state-of-the-library reports from various states by the respective State Librarians and general deliberations, at the of which a communique was issued.

The keynote address was presented by the Vice Chancellor of the Kaduna State University, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa. Other dignitaries present include the President of the National Library Association, the Registrar of the Librarians Registration Council, State Librarians and some Chairmen of the state public libraries from across the nation.

The state government was represented by senior government functionaries including the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango as Chief Host, the Permanent Secretary 1, Government House, Pharmacist Nasiru Yusuf, and the Executive Director,Katsina State Library Board, Alhaji Shafi’i Abdu Bugaje who was the Host and LOC Chairman.

The state governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, who was the Special Guest of Honour was represented by the Commissioner for Technical, Vocational and Higher Education, Isah Muhammed Musa. Governor Radda later received the delegates, led by Prof. Anunobi in the governor’s office.
