The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has secured the conviction of three individuals—Umaru Wadai, Promise Utibe, and Ifeoma Ajoturah—for a total of nine years in prison. They were found guilty of selling human beings for exploitation and the attempted sale of a one-week-old baby girl in a Borno State High Court. Each defendant received a three-year sentence with an option of a N2m fine. This case highlights ongoing efforts by NAPTIP to combat human trafficking, building on previous convictions of other traffickers in Nigeria.
