Lecturers at the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa in Nasarawa State have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene regarding the Acting Rector, Hauwa Tanko Mohammed, who has allegedly refused to step down despite her six-month tenure expiring on 31/12/2024. According to senior academic staff, her continued stay in office violates Section sixteen subsection three of the Federal Polytechnics Act of twenty nineteen, with additional concerns raised over a twenty fifteen investigation panel that established her use of a plagiarized textbook for academic promotion. In response, Mohammed dismissed the allegations and confirmed that she received official authorization to remain in her post, a stance backed by Major General Lawrence Onoja Retired, Chairman of the Governing Council, who stated he wrote to the Minister of Education requesting a tenure extension while interviews are conducted to select a substantive rector.
