Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike strongly criticized former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman Uche Secondus and former Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia for supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara during their ongoing political conflict, arguing that Secondus was actually Fubara's true opponent because he initially resisted his gubernatorial nomination in favor of his own cousin. Speaking at a party event in Rivers State, Wike defended his political legacy and past actions, claiming he was responsible for removing Secondus from his national party leadership position to secure Fubara's candidacy, while also rejecting accusations that he left uncompleted infrastructure projects behind or underperformed during his tenure as a federal minister. Wike further maintained that through his relationship with President Bola Tinubu, he has attracted more federal political appointments to Rivers State than previous administrations, asserting that those now aligning with the governor are merely opportunists who previously worked against him
