On November 8, 2025, the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, nullified the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leading to an appeal from the declared winner, Dr. Wole Oluyede. The ruling, delivered by Justice Babs Kuewumi, followed a suit filed by aspirant Funso Ayeni, who argued that the primaries breached the party's guidelines and the Electoral Act due to the absence of an authentic list of delegates. Justice Kuewumi concluded that the primaries did not adhere to legal requirements and mandated the PDP to conduct a fresh election in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ensuring all eligible aspirants could participate to promote fairness and transparency. In response, Oluyede's legal team announced plans to file an appeal against the ruling and a request for a stay of execution. He had previously been omitted from INEC's official candidate list for the upcoming June 20, 2026 election and intends to pursue all legal options to contest this exclusion and restore his candidacy.
