The government of Lagos State has ordered all unapproved and unregistered private schools in the state to register immediately with the Office of Education Quality Assurance to ensure all educational institutions below the tertiary level meet required standards. The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, issued this directive, while the Coordinating Director of the agency, Remi Abdul, stated at the Ikeja office that registration is mandatory and failure to comply will lead to sanctions. Abdul explained that the rapid growth of private schools necessitates proper documentation for effective monitoring, noting that applications open starting Monday, January 13, 2025. He also noted the benefits of registration, such as official state recognition, technical and financial support, and policy updates, assuring the public that the government remains fully committed to providing quality education for all students through this vital regulatory step.
