The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, strongly criticized former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili during a church service in Port Harcourt, calling him an ungrateful opportunist for supporting the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Responding to claims from Odili that Fubara prevented Wike from turning the state into a personal property, Wike countered that Odili was actually the one who treated Rivers State as a family enterprise by appointing his wife and daughters to key public positions. Wike pointed out that he resurrected Odili's political influence in 2015 and built a house for him, noting that Odili previously praised Wike's achievements above all past governors, but has now reduced his credibility by making contradicting statements to favor the new administration.
