Nigerian contractors, under the Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI), have called for a clear transition plan to transition from asphalt to concrete road construction across the country. The federation praised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for engaging its members in the infrastructure transformation agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. FOCI President and Chairman-in-Council Chief Vincent Barrah stressed that with a proper transition plan, the federation's members are ready for the innovation. However, he said the ongoing discussion on transitioning from asphalt to concrete roads must be mutually agreed upon with a clear plan going forward. The federation also called for fairness in the assessment of its members' contributions to Nigeria's infrastructure sector. The industry has faced challenges on contract administration, re-awarding of projects, contract conditions, and payment delays, impacting both companies and workers.
