The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, announced that the institution is establishing a comprehensive Sports Institute that will pioneer over ten specialized academic degree programs—including Sports Medicine, Sports Marketing, Sports Law, and Sports Journalism—to fill a major gap in Nigerian higher education. To advance this vision and prepare to host the Nigerian Universities Games Association sports festival, the university signed a formal memorandum of understanding with Belgush Royal Promotions, an event management firm, alongside securing technical support from the National Sports University of Korea and the backing of the National Sports Commission. University leadership and sports administrators highlighted that the institution's favorable climate in Jos makes it an ideal setting for training elite athletes and developing qualified sports professionals, with both partnering organizations committing substantial resources to ensure the successful execution of the games and the long-term growth of sports education in Nigeria.
