The University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has directed its members to commence a strike following the non-payment of their June 2025 salaries. Professor Jurbe Molwus, the chairman of the union at the institution, issued this directive in a message circulated to members. He instructed all academic staff to abstain from teaching and participating in statutory meetings starting from July 4, 2025, after the payment deadline passed. This industrial action aligns with an existing National Executive Council resolution and a local congress decision mandating branches to act if salaries are delayed past the third day of a new month. A strike monitoring team has been activated to ensure full compliance across the university until further notice.
