The federal government has begun designing the 1,000-kilometer Sokoto-Badagry highway, following President Bola Tinubu's directive. The project will cover the old African trade route of Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Lagos States, connecting to Badagry in Lagos. The government has committed to completing the Abuja-Kaduna-Katsina-Kano federal highway within record time. The project will be started in three sections, with the first section completed by Dangote Group of Companies on Tax Credit, the next 82 kilometers by Julius Berger, and the last 20 kilometers by BUA. The governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, commended the President's initiative to construct the Lagos-Calabar road and the Sokoto-Badagry road, stating that the projects would enhance the country's socio-economic potential.
