Femi Falana, a rights activist and senior lawyer, has called on authorities to release the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, from custody. Falana argues that Bawa's continued detention violates his rights and constitutional provisions. Bawa was arrested in June after being investigated for alleged breach of the law. Falana argues that the secret service cannot remand a defendant for more than 56 days cumulatively. He also suggests that the federal government should charge the two detained suspects before a competent court if there was evidence of criminal offenses. Falana argues that the detention of Bawa is spent, invalid, and illegal under Section 493 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, and Section 35 of the Constitution of Nigeria. He urges the federal government to respect the rights of Bawa and the Director of Public Prosecution in the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Senator Ifeanyi Ararume criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited's appeal to upturn the Federal High Court's decision to reinstate Ararume as Non-executive Chairman of the company's Board. He argued the appeal was incompetent and a waste of court time. The NNPC challenged the court's decisions, presenting 18 grounds, including lacked jurisdiction, statute barredness, misled provisions, Ararume's failure to provide convincing evidence, and the suit on Originating Summons.

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, has filed a separate case against President Bola Tinubu in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois after withdrawing an existing one before a circuit court in Illinois. The court dismissed the suit, stating that Atiku's academic records from primary school to university remained questionable, and the president's failure to identify a single former classmate was a joke. Atiku's supporters are rejoicing over the development, but the truth is coming and President Tinubu has no hiding place. The county court in Illinois dismissed the suit filed by Atiku, seeking release of Tinubu's academic records at Chicago State University. The dismissal was a result of Atiku's withdrawal of the suit, and Judge Patrick J. Heneghan dismissed the case without prejudice.

Despite disputing the stated results of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Captain Joe Agada and Captain Joe Agada, the PDP candidates for Atiku Abubakar, agreed to signing the results of the presidential election on February 25. Over 20 voting places allegedly had irregularities, and the majority of PDP agents allegedly refused to sign the results. He stated he was compelled to sign since failing to do so would result in his party not receiving a copy. Agada, the witness, said that he didn't express his complaints about the election. He based his report on his own observations as well as data from other party agents. Collation Officer Dr. Solarin Adekunle alleged that President Tinubu and the APC had the election results rigged in their favour.

President Bola Tinubu has been granted relief by US District Court Judge Nancy Maldonado, who halted the release of his university records to PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar. The court ordered Chicago State University to release the records within 48 hours, citing alleged perjury and forgery of his CSU certificate. Atiku's lawyers are expected to respond to the court's recommendation by September 25, 2023.

The Inspector General of Police and five others have been sued for allegedly violating the fundamental human rights of two investors, Ibrahim Shehu Tenimu and Jemima Monosoko Shehu, who claim to be Directors with Paz Oil Nigeria Limited. The plaintiffs allege that Dr. Kamoru Yusuf used police to intimidate and oppress them over a civil transaction. They seek a declaration of their rights and exemplary damages.
