Boko Haram suspects reportedly plotting to attack the Yola, Adamawa State residence of former Vice-President  Atiku Abubakar, have been arrested. A 29-year-old suspect, Jubrila Mohammed, who confessed to being a Boko Haram member from Damboa in Borno State, was first arrested at the gate of Atiku’s residence while trying to carry out the attack at about 9 p.m. on Sunday. After his arrest, three other persons suspected to be his accomplice were also nabbed.

In a statement, the media office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections narrated what transpired. “We wish to alert the Nigerian public that at about 9:44 pm on Sunday, 23 July, 2023 a man seeking to confirm the residence of His Excellency Atiku Abubakar in Yola was apprehended at the gate of the residence. The man who was apprehended by security operatives at the residence of Atiku Abubakar was later handed over to the police.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, says it has become compulsory for every student of the institution to register a company as a pre-requisite for graduation. Addressing journalists on some of his administration’s achievements in the last four years, Na’Allah said his team had made a major move to change the landscape of the university in infrastructure, learning and industry. 

He said: “The industry is always on our campus to teach our students to contribute to our curriculum, they’re constantly working with us and every time we’re always seeing something new. One of the new things this time around is that more than 1000 students have registered their companies with CAC in this university, students having companies and some of them are graduating, some in 300 level with opportunities to even practise the companies they have registered. 

“What we’re saying to our students is that we’re not giving you certificate only to go and look for employment, we’re charging you to employ yourself and create wealth, charging them to change their mindset, many of them have registered their companies, go to CAC and see the record. 

Arc. Ahmed Aminu Yar'Adua, a distant relative of the late president Umaru Yar'Adua, and Sen. Shehu Sani have secured their nomination and expression of interest paperwork in order to run for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship tickets in the states of Katsina and Kaduna, respectively, in the 2023 elections. Yar'Adua told journalists that if given the chance to manage the state, the narrative around administration in Katsina will change. Senator Shehu Sani, who previously served as the senator for Kaduna Central Sentorial District in the Eighth Senate, said he is running for office because he is qualified to solve the state's problems, particularly the issue of insecurity..
