BUA Foods Plc plans to leverage opportunities provided by its listing on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) to grow a viable food production and exporting business that would improve national food sufficiency and help in generating much-needed foreign exchange. Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu said with the listing of the food business on the NGX, there is high hope for Nigeria in terms of building capacity for food sufficiency. He noted that the population of Nigeria is over 200 million and the national food production capacity is still not enough to meet current demands. The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Temi Popoola, commended BUA Foods for taking the bold step to join its subsidiary company, BUA Cement, as a publicly-listed company on the Exchange. The listing of BUA Foods' shares has added N720 billion to the market capitalisation of NGX, further boosting liquidity in the Nigerian capital market and providing opportunities for wealth creation. She has been addressing the unemployment scourge, under-representation of young women and girls in STEM and the fragmented education system by training teachers and students in STEM education. She is also promoting an enabling environment for 100,000 women and increased girls' participation in STEM, while strengthening competencies, particularly in STEM and digital literacy, for youths to effectively transit from education to employment.

To foster greater cooperation and information exchange among securities regulators, the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) has published a set of best practises for the use of international supervisory colleges in the securities markets. Nigeria sits on the IOSCO board and participates in the organization's Growth and Emerging Markets (GEM) Committee. The report offers a framework for securities regulators looking to establish new international supervisory colleges for financial markets segments where they are not currently used. Doing so could improve coordination between regulatory bodies and help regulators further address the negative effects of market fragmentation. The paper recommended using supervisory colleges to exchange information and crisis management strategies. 

Nigeria is set to curb imports in the face of declining revenue from oil, but its agriculture sector is facing hard times due to the COVID-19 pandemic and soaring inflation. The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) proposed that African countries allocate 10% of their budgets to boost agricultural productivity, but Nigeria has failed to implement the policy. Its budgetary allocation to agriculture rose from 1.70% in 2017 to two% in 2018. Nigeria's low budgetary allocation to agriculture is one of the reasons the sector has not recorded huge progress when measured against the African Union's African Agricultural Transformation Scorecard (AATS). The AATS tracks progress in commitments made by AU Heads of State and Government through CAADP and the Malabo Declaration to increase prosperity and improved livelihoods for transforming agriculture. Concerned stakeholders and experts in the sector have called for an increase in funding allocated to the sector, but also improvements in the effectiveness of agricultural spending.
