The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has declared that the Ndigbo must produce Nigeria's President in 2019, with a northerner potentially serving as Vice-President. The youths have mobilized resources to achieve an "Igbo President" in 2019, stating that the Igbo will no longer play a "second fiddle" in Nigerian politics. Their position on the 2019 presidential election was influenced by the North's opposition to restructuring calls and the quit order given to Igbo living in the North by a coalition of Northern groups.
