Otunba (Dr.) Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former governor of Oyo State, died in his Ogbomoso, Oyo State home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. He was 71. Two civil society organisations (CSOs) have chided the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for demanding the payment of six months' salaries while keeping students at home during the union's strike. The CSOs expressed outrage at the action of the lecturers, who they said had kept university students at home while asking for salaries they did not work for. The CSOs are proposing to mobilise other CSOs for a showdown against ASUU, warning that if ASU sticks to its selfish demands, they will be compelled to lay siege to ASU offices across the country.
