Justice Nwosu-Iheme of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja has sentenced Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, to death by hanging for culpable homicide. The judgment follows the death of the singer on April 8, 2022. Peter Nwachukwu was originally arraigned on June 3, 2022, by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation on a twenty-three-count charge that included criminal intimidation, cruelty to children, and spousal battery. During the trial, the prosecution team, led by prosecuting counsel Aderonke Imala, presented seventeen witnesses, including two of the couple's children, and submitted twenty-five documents as evidence. In defense, Peter Nwachukwu testified alongside four other witnesses and submitted four documents, while his lawyer, Reginald Nwali, pleaded with the court for leniency before the final ruling. Ultimately, the judge ruled that the government had successfully proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Alongside the death sentence for the first count
