All heads of tertiary institutions, leaders of security personnel, top government officials, lecturers, and students gathered recently at the Umaru Musa Yar"adua University to discuss the best ways to bolster security in schools around the state. Speaking to the crowd on behalf of the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, the state deputy governor, Mannir Yakubu, said that the current administration has implemented several measures to combat the threat of banditry and drug abuse, one of which is the establishment of three-tier security structures throughout the 34 local government areas of the state.

The state government of Katsina State has instituted a committee to control the actions of miscreants and abusers in the state as part of its attempts to reduce insecurity in the state. According to pressmen, Ibrahim Ahmed Katsina, the special adviser to the governor on security matters, revealed the information following a meeting held behind closed doors between the committee and Governor Aminu Bello Masari at the Government House. Adding that the 15-person group is made up of traditional institutions, religious organisations, security services, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The government's administration will be ready, he continued, to lessen teenage unrest and drug usage in the state.

No electorate would be denied the opportunity to vote in the upcoming local government election in the state, according to Ibrahim Bako, Chairman of the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC). In a briefing to journalists before the local government election, he issued the promise that the commission would do everything in its power to ensure that all eligible voters, even those who had been forced to leave because of persistent security issues, could cast their ballots. Additionally, he stated that the commission will rehire 19,608 ad hoc workers to help with the voting process in the 4,902 polling places that would be staffed with four people each. He continued, "Regardless of the circumstance, we will improvise a legal solution that will force everyone to vote, including the internally displaced persons."
