The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) is responsible for reintegrating pardoned or freed offenders into the society for a better life and living. Despite the rebranding of the Nigeria Prison Service, the system of operation of NCS still remains the same, with overcrowded prison facilities, underfeeding, and large number of inmates awaiting trials. The Ministry of Interior must ensure that correctional facilities and institutions nationwide are well-equipped with security apparatus and put in place programs that will positively alter and correctively reconfigure the attitude of those handling convicts in their custody. Ex-convicts should not be abandoned and condemned to loneliness and death after they leave the correctional centre, as it may damage their mentality, psyche and self-esteem. The government and other concerned authorities must provide an enabling environment for ex-convicts to live well and responsibly.
