Unidentified gunmen attacked the Katsina State residence of Maharazu Dayi, the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area, resulting in the death of Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal. Security operatives successfully thwarted the assailants' attempt to force their way into the home while the chairman and his family were inside, though Lawal sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
