The National Industrial Court in Abuja has scheduled March 17 to deliver its ruling in a lawsuit filed by over four hundred police officers from courses eighteen, nineteen, and twenty of the Police Academy, who claim they were unlawfully retired before reaching the mandatory retirement age or completing thirty-five years of service. Represented by eight officers, the claimants argue that the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police, and the Force Secretary violated previous court judgments by prematurely retiring them and altering their official appointment dates without legal justification. During the latest court session, the presiding judge announced that the ruling was not yet ready and instructed all parties to return on the new adjourned date, while the claimants' lawyer condemned the police authorities for continuing to demote and retire officers while the legal case was still pending.
