BAKARE; EMEFIELE S' CASE SIGNALS WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION IS CLAMPDOWN ON POLITICAL OPPONENTS.
by Newsmen
Pastor Tunde Bakare, serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has described the suspension of Governor Godwin Emefiele by the Department of State Services (DSS) as a political vendetta by President Bola Tinubu. Bakare argued that the current president's war against corruption is primarily motivated by a clampdown on perceived political adversaries while other enemies of Nigeria remain untouched. Bakare also warned that Nigeria is regressing forcefully in a frantic race to the bottom on Tinubu's watch. He criticized Tinubu's presidential style as "leadership by impulse" and warned that Nigeria is regressing forcefully in a frantic race to the bottom. Bakare recalled warnings earlier that the politics of entitlement, or "emi lo kan," would breed an imperial presidency that would slide towards dictatorship and be intolerant of dissent. Bakare urged stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to listen attentively and take this address as a wake-up call to salvage a ship drifting in a socioeconomic and political Euroclydon. He condemned the thoughtless removal of petrol subsidies and placing military option before diplomacy in managing the military's takeover in Niger Republic as cases of Tinubu's leadership by impulse, which he argued had unwittingly plunged Nigeria into chaos.
