The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen has expressed excitement over the qualification of the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the final of the African Cup of Nations taking place in Cote de voire. The Super Eagles on Wednesday beat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa by four goals to two in a penalty shootout in their semi-final match in Bouake, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Nigeria sealed the game 4-2 in penalties after Nwabali saved two penalties. Speaker Abbas, while wishing the Super Eagles the best of luck in the final on Sunday, said Nigerians are fully behind the national team. Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, said that the team has shown commendable resilience in their previous outings, and urged them to go the whole distance to lift the cup on Sunday. Nigeria is seeking a fourth continental glory having previously lifted the prestigious trophy in 1980, 1994, and 2013 under the tutelage of Festus Onigbinde, Clement Westerhof and the late Stephen Keshi respectively.
