Nigerian Governor Ayo Fayose has hinted at quitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2018 governorship election. Speaking at a meeting with the State Suppliers' Association of Nigeria, Fayose stated that he would prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from taking over the state in 2018. He cited the defeat his party suffered in the Ondo State governorship poll and alleged that the electorate sold their votes. Fayose has previously defected to the Labour Party (LP) and returned to the PDP in 2012 for the 2014 governorship election. He said he is still studying the situation and will inform the public about his political future. Fayose also pledged to defeat the APC in the 16 local governments, focusing on workers' welfare and bridging communication gaps with the workforce. He emphasised that the APC will not win a local government in Ekiti in 2018, and he aims to defeat and triumph over the party.
