Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, deputy of the sacked National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff, and other members of the party have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Delta State. Ojougboh claimed that the Ahmed Markafi-led national leadership had refused to reach out to them since the Supreme Court judgment ousted the Sheriff faction. The defectors were received by the National Vice Chairman of the APC, Mr. Hilliard Eta, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, and the state chairman of the party, Mr. Jones Erue. Former factional chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr. Austin Ogbaburhon, said the defectors rejected offers from other political parties before agreeing to join the APC.
