Stakeholders in the maritime industry have raised concerns over the Ministry of Transportation's financial allocations in the 2022 budget, which were found to be duplicated in the Appropriation Bill. The ministry allocated N619million for anniversaries, celebrations and others, N169million for performance audit of NPA, NIMASA, Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) and other consultancy, N373million for fixed asset purchase, N746million for salary expenditure, N827.27million for salaries and wages, salary, allowances and social contribution, and N124.09million for social contributions. The 2022 budget allocated N15.13 billion for personnel, overhead, and capital projects.
