To improve clean water access in the state capital,Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto commissioned the newly completed Tamaje Water Scheme, a project valued at over fourteen point one billion Naira. Speaking at the ceremony, the governor highlighted the facility as a crucial milestone capable of delivering three million gallons of potable water daily to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding city. This project is part of a larger network of six regional schemes—including those at Old Airport, Gagi, Mana, Runjin Sambo, and Ruga Liman—aimed at collectively supplying forty million gallons of water per day upon completion. During his address, Governor Aliyu paid tribute to the former governor and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for originally initiating the vision for the project. The event was attended by the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, who served as the special guest of honour and praised the project for aligning with the national development goals of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To ensure the long-term success and uninterrupted operation of the facility, Governor Aliyu urged local residents to protect the infrastructure from vandalism and promised continued government investment to resolve power supply challenges for the Sokoto State Water Board.
