Bandits have attacked a Niger State community, killing at least 50 people and causing 13 military personnel to be killed and some local vigilantes injured. The bandits were terrorizing Kundu village near Zungeru, Wushishi Local Government Area, and were reportedly settling with cows and domestic animals. Senior military officers also lost their lives to the bandits. The killing of military men occurred on Sunday, with 13 casualties recorded and eight others killed by the bandits. The bandits laid ambushs for the military men, who were on a rescue mission. At least 21 military personnel corpses were deposited at the Zungeru Federal Medical Centre, while injured vigilante members were receiving temporary treatment. The Nigerian Air Force's MI-171 helicopter crashed near Chukuba Village in Niger State, with preliminary investigations underway to determine the probable cause of the crash.
