Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed that Lagos will host the 2025 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), reinforcing the city’s position as Africa’s creative and cultural capital. During a visit from representatives of the African Union (AU) and the AFRIMA International Committee, Sanwo-Olu declared Lagos “ready to roll out the red carpet,” emphasizing the event’s alignment with his administration’s focus on developing the creative and tourism industries. He noted that Lagos’ 2025 cultural calendar already includes major international events like the Cannes Film Festival and the E1 World Championship, highlighting the state’s growing global profile.AU official Angela Martins praised Sanwo-Olu’s continued support for the arts, calling AFRIMA an important tool for advancing the AU’s cultural agenda and Agenda 2063. AFRIMA President Mike Dada added that the 2025 edition will be a week-long festival expected to attract 1,600 nominees, 1,100 crew members, and a 400 million global audience, boosting Lagos’ economy through tourism and job creation.The official hosting certificate will be presented to Lagos on May 13, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
