Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, emphasized that tax removal in the aviation sector requires collective government approval and cannot be unilaterally decided by him. Speaking at an event in Abuja marking 100 years of aviation in Nigeria, he noted that legislative review is necessary for any tax adjustments. Keyamo highlighted the infrastructure deficit as a major challenge for aviation growth and underscored the need for functional airport hubs to facilitate international transit. He also pointed out that finance and aircraft leasing access are significant obstacles to airline expansion. Despite challenges, he believes Nigeria's market capacity and population offer a favorable outlook for the industry, although concerns remain regarding the removal of certain tax exemptions affecting operations.
