A prominent farmer and shop owner from Akor village in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, Terzungwe Shaku, was tragically killed by gunmen after his family paid a ransom of five million, five hundred thousand naira. The victim had been abducted shortly before the New Year celebration, and his captors initially demanded twenty million naira, which was later reduced to ten million and finally negotiated down to five million, five hundred thousand naira. Tragically, despite the family meeting the ransom demand at the designated drop-off location, the abductors shot and killed him at that very spot. Meanwhile, local authorities, including the Chairman of Guma Local Government Area, Maurice Orwough, and the State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, stated that they were not yet aware of the tragic incident when they were contacted for official comments.
