Chuck Nduka-Eze, the Isama Ajie of Asaba kingdom, has announced Prof. Epiphany Azinge as the new Asagba of Asaba. Azinge, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, has been well-received by the Asaba community and the entire country. The people expect Azinge to take Asaba to greater heights, consistent with his high performance in various positions. The new Asagba enjoys wide and enthusiastic support from over 95% of the citizens of Asaba. The process leading to the emergence of a new king in Asaba involved a transparent democratic process, with 10 candidates selected from the quarter. Azinge stands out from the other contenders due to his expertise in law and public figureship. He has also served as the President of the Asaba Development Union, demonstrating his dedication to all things Asaba.
The new Asagba of Asaba, a respected Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has the capacity to address issues in the community. The Asagba has internal support from Senior Advocates, the Obis, and the Agu Nwanyi. The selection process was successful, with the Asagba-in-Council, Otu-Ihaza, and Obis all pleased with the outcome. The new Asagba has received over 95% of the citizens' support, including all traditional institutions. Some aggrieved persons have challenged the process in court, but the process has been improved through traditional institutional remedial platforms. The Asagba cannot pilot the city's affairs alone, and the chiefs in Asaba are considering cooperation to achieve the mandate given to him. The Asagba has shown appreciation for the collegiate nature of the Asaba governance structure, and the chiefs have worked closely with him to ensure the successful tenure of the previous Asagba.
