The relationship between Nigeria and Canada is dynamic and positive, with around 70 Canadian companies active in various sectors of Nigeria's market. Canada has great experience and expertise in mining and agriculture, which are priorities for Nigeria's efforts to diversify the economy. Canada has made strides in ensuring mining investments benefit not just the country but the communities where they are located. However, Nigeria has not focused on mining until recently, and the government and Minister Fayemi are determined to develop this sector. Canada has also been instrumental in Nigeria's fight against insurgents, identifying niches where they can be helpful and providing training programs for police and military officers. Over 100 officers have benefitted from these training programs, with some focusing on crime-related issues and terrorist attacks. The Canadian government is determined to help Nigeria develop its potential in renewable energy, which will have a spill-off effect on the entire Nigerian economy.
