Former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, is a candidate for the position of national chairman at the party's convention in Port Harcourt. George believes he is the best candidate for the top position in the party, despite Senator Ali Modu Sheriff's claim that he remains national chairman till 2018. The party's constitution is clear, and the convention has the power to set up committees. However, the party's conscience has advised discussions to continue, and reconciliation negotiations are still ongoing. Justice Abang, who gave the recent judgment, acknowledged Sheriff and said he would reconvene on the 15th to make a pronouncement on the scheduled convention. However, Justice Abang is not a higher court than the federal high court in Port Harcourt, and he cannot give an order to counter that order. The party's constitution is designed to guide members, and any disagreements between the executive, judiciary, and legislative arms can derail the party.
