The Judicial Service Commission of Jigawa State has taken decisive disciplinary action by ordering three separate Sharia court judges to hand in their resignations and terminating the employment of three administrative officers due to severe allegations of official misconduct and breaches of professional ethics. According to an official statement released by the Director of Protocol and Publicity for the state judiciary following their recent meeting in Dutse, two senior registry officers were found guilty of unlawfully selling vehicle exhibits belonging to the Federal High Court. Also, a chief clerical officer was dismissed for misappropriating a litigant financial deposit meant for a bank recovery case. In addition to these terminations, three specific Sharia court judges were given a strict two-week window to resign following investigations that revealed repeated judicial misconduct, improper application of legal procedures, and flawed handling of inheritance disputes. The commission also issued official warning letters to two magistrates for converting civil disputes into criminal matters, displaying clear partisanship, and using derogatory language toward litigants, thereby reinforcing their steadfast commitment to preserving integrity and accountability within the state justice system.
