The Minister of Works, David Umahi, warned contractors handling major road projects across the South-East and South-South regions to accelerate their pace or face contract termination. During an inspection tour of projects including the East-West Road, the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, and the Bodo-Bonny Road, the minister expressed dissatisfaction with delays and slow progress by firms such as Reynolds Construction Company and China Civil Engineering Construction Company, despite acknowledging good work quality from others like Arab Contractors. Stressing that the government will no longer tolerate unfulfilled contractual obligations or stalled timelines, Umahi mandated federal controllers of works to deliver completed projects for commissioning by May twentieth, reaffirming the administration's commitment to infrastructure development under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
