The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has strongly backed protesting workers from state-owned broadcast stations—including Lagos Television, Radio Lagos, Eko FM, and Traffic Radio—insisting that they are full state employees legally entitled to receive the new national minimum wage. Led by state labor and union leaders, the workers staged a peaceful demonstration to protest their exclusion from the state government's salary payment database and the ongoing non-payment of the approved wage, warning that operations would be completely halted unless their grievances are resolved. While praising the state governor for maintaining a generally cordial relationship with labor, the unions stressed that it is unjust for public media personnel who promote government policies to suffer career stagnation and be denied benefits enjoyed by other state civil servants.
