The Nigeria labour congress (NLC) on Thursday asked the Federal Government to shelve its plan to increased electrictity tariff by 40 percent.Â
NLC, in a statedmetn signed by its president, Comradee Joe Ajaero, said the plan to increase electricity tariff tby 40 percent by July 1 is bothe insentsitive and callous and reflects an organised indifference to the well- being of consumers, especially the poor ones.
The issue of capacity to pay and quality of service delivery are not onlu germane but superior to andy rationalisation by market logic.
The rate ata which theya ate going is highly combative and combustible.
In light of this, our advice is that that this proposed tariff hike should be shelved for our collective safety.
