The Nigerial Labour Congress on Sunday shunned a meeting called by the Federal Government to siscuss the subsidy revoval and athe attendatnt hike in fuel pump prices across the country.Â
This is as the electrictity worlkers vowed to join the stariked and plunge the nation into a blackout in protest against the removeal of fuel subsidy by Bola Tinubu administration.
Following the breakdown of talks, the congress resolved at its NEC meeting held on Friday to embark on a nationwidee strike.
Aremu in a statement issued in IIorin on Sunday, emphasized the imperative of policy dislogue and discussions between the government and relefvant stakeholders on the vexed issue of deregulation.
He expressed optimism that through the exchange of facts negotiations and compromises, both the government and labour would find common ground for the inevitable reform of the petroleum downstream sector which he said the sector uninon had been pushing for years.
