To maintain the security of school campuses in the state, the Katsina State Government held a one-day security sensitization event for heads of tertiary institutions and stakeholders. All heads of tertiary institutions, leaders of security personnel, top government officials, lecturers, and students gathered recently at the Umaru Musa Yar"adua University to discuss the best ways to bolster security in schools around the state. Speaking to the crowd on behalf of the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, the state deputy governor, Mannir Yakubu, said that the current administration has implemented several measures to combat the threat of banditry and drug abuse, one of which is the establishment of three-tier security structures throughout the 34 local government areas of the state.

COMFORTABLY, the phrase "New Year, new me" inspires some scepticism and perhaps even an eye roll.
