The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received the endorsement of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu. The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors at a meeting in Abuja foiled a plan to shift the party's convention. They voted for the convention to hold on February 26, and sent emissaries to President Muhammadu Buhari on the need for the convention to hold as decided. President Buhari supported the governors' push for a democratic structure in the party instead of the continuation of an ad hoc leadership, and directed the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) to keep to its earlier proposal to hold the convention in February. Some governors said the alleged challenges listed by the Caretaker Committee were not enough to shift the national convention. The Progressive Governors Forum overruled the CECPC's proposal to postpone the APC National Convention, which was initially slated for December last year.

Kennedy Ibe, speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, has vacated Obinna Okwara's position as the representative for the Nkwerre State Constituency. Since he was re-elected to represent the Obowo State Constituency in 2019, the speaker, Ibe, has resigned from the party three times. OKwara, an APC-to-PDP switcheroo who was one of the six MPs the house leadership dismissed in December, is currently a member of the PDP. The decision was made by Ibe on Wednesday during plenary. Obinna Okwara's seat as the representative for Nkwerre State Constituency has been declared vacant by Kennedy Ibe, speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly. Justice Tsammani acceded to the application and adjourned the petition till Thursday.
