Gunmen have kidnapped a popular Anambra State-based native doctor, Chinedu Nwangwu, alias Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki, after killing two of his aides in one of his hotels, Triple P Hotel, in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State. A source said that Tiwaraki was regarded to be among the strongest and was the richest witch doctor in Anambra.

The source said that many people were reported to flock to his mansion in Oba for anti-bullet charms and other money rituals. Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the incident happened around 11pm on Sunday but that he had been released.

A 6-month-old baby, Chinedu Chukwueke, has reportedly been stolen at his mother’s salon shop in Kure Ultra-Modern Market, Minna, Niger State. The father of the boy, Chikezie Stanley Chuks, broke the sad news on his Facebook page. He wrote, “Good afternoon, pls my baby boy by name Chinedu Chukwueke of 6 months old was taken from my wife’s shop today Sunday 23 July, 2023 at Kure market Minna. Pls any useful information about this little baby should be reported to the nearest Police station or contact 07033186837.”

The worried father said, “She’s of average height, light in complexion, with 11 facial marks. She spoke Igala and introduced herself as Rabi. She was wearing a red dress with a matching hijab.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the incident had not been officially reported to the Police. “I wish to use this medium to advise the parent to report at GRA Police Division, which covers Kure Market for documentation and necessary in-depth investigation towards ensuring the rescue of the baby and arrest of the culprit,” he said.

Farmers in Igirra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government Area  Edostate, are said to be apprehensive of going to their farms, following the abduction of fire people by suspected herdsmen who have reportedly taken over farm roads in the oven. A mutilated female corpse has been found dumped around the roadside of Welfare Quarters in Makurdi, Benue State. Witnesses identified the body to be one 30-year-old, Mnena also known as Dorcas who resides at Owner Occupier Housing Estate in Makurdi. A close associate of the deceased, who declined his name on print, explained to journalists in Makurdi that Dorcas went missing for two days before her lifeless body was found.

He said, “On Friday, July 14, 2023, she (deceased) escorted a friend of hers to the burial of her brother in-law. They returned back to Makurdi on Saturday after the burial. When they returned, she didn’t go back home but slept at her friend’s house around the modern market area. “The next day, Sunday, July 16, 2023, was her birthday, she left her friend’s house with a promise to call her friend by 3pm, so they can sit out.

“On Tuesday, the friend got a message that was sent from the lady’s (deceased) phone, but later realised that she may not have been the one that actually sent the message, asking her to come to a certain address and when her friend got to the place, she discovered that she was dead and dismembered and some of her body parts strewn all over the place.
