President Bola Tinubu met with Northern Governors to discuss the situation in Niger, following the expiration of the one-week deadline given to the Niger Republic coupists by ECOWAS. The Northern Elites opposed the planned onslaught against the military junta, citing the potential consequences on Nigeria. Tinubu issued a seven-day ultimatum to restore democracy, leading to sanctions and border closures.
