The Federal Government has launched the Wase Grazing Lot, a model livestock village in Plateau State, to modernize livestock farming and address insecurity caused by farmer-herder conflicts. Unveiled by Minister of Livestock Development Dr. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the project is a collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and the Plateau State Government. It will include irrigation systems, a veterinary clinic, health and education facilities, staff housing, and a security post. Governor Caleb Mutfwang praised President Bola Tinubu for creating the livestock ministry, calling the initiative a strategic move toward peacebuilding, job creation, and economic growth. The governor also announced plans to modernize the Jos abattoir to process up to 500 cattle daily. Authorities hope structured grazing reserves like Wase will ease tensions, enhance productivity, and drive a sustainable livestock economy in Plateau State and beyond.
