The Kebbi State Police have arrested 25-year-old Maryam Muhammad for allegedly kidnapping her friend’s four-year-old son, Abdulmumini Surajo, and demanding a N5m ransom. The child went missing on November 26, 2025, and the father received a ransom call from a female voice shortly after. Police traced the call to Muhammad, who confessed to the abduction after being arrested. The child was rescued unharmed on November 29 in Mahuta. The incident stems from a prior misunderstanding between Muhammad and the child's mother, and investigations are ongoing amid rising kidnappings in the region, including a recent attack on a school in Kebbi State.
