Gombe State University has confirmed an early-morning security breach at one of its female hostels, where a final-year student was attacked by an intruder during an academic break. According to a statement issued by the university’s Public Relations Officer, Hadu Ligari, the incident occurred while the student was preparing for her project defence. University security personnel responded promptly after the attack was reported, securing the area and ensuring the safety of other residents. The Vice-Chancellor and senior management officials visited the scene to assess the situation and coordinate response efforts. The affected student sustained injuries to her hands while attempting to defend herself but has since received medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. University authorities reassured students, staff, parents, and the public that additional security measures are being reinforced. The management reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and conducive academic and residential environment for the university community.
