Malam Muhammed Sani Abdullahi, the commissioner of the Planning and Budget Commission, revealed that the Social Register in Kaduna state has more than two million persons from both urban and rural areas. The Kaduna State Scholarship and Loan Board will have a new source of income thanks to the establishment of the Education Trust Fund by the Malam Nasir El-Rufai administration. The Executive Secretary of the Board, Malam Hassan Rilwan, revealed this and stated that although the enabling law is still being developed, the "Act will soon be ready." The Trust Fund would allow people, organisations, and even Non-Governmental Organisations to donate to the fund, he continued, adding that the law will explicitly state how it will be handled. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), 1.74 million children in Nigeria's North East are underweight. Acute malnutrition analysis among children in six local government areas, including Machina, Yusufari, Nguru, Bade, Bursari, and Geidam, all located on the northern edge of Yobe State, reached a critical level according to the Integrated Food Phase Classification (IPC). In Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states, the analysis found that "high levels of acute malnutrition are prevalent in many areas between September and December 2021, with over 60% of areass analysed being in Integrated Food Security Phase Classification IPC AMN Phase 3 (serious) of 4 (Critical)."Through August 2022, it is anticipated that almost 1.74 million children under the age of five will have acute malnutrition.This includes more than a million children who are moderately malnourished and about 614,000 kids who are extremely malnourished. Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyinga (PAUU) has produced 60 first class graduates in various disciplines. A total of 20,634 graduates and 1,600 from the school of postgraduates studies  were  awarded certificates at a combined convocation of the institution held at the main campus, Ayingba, on Saturday. The vice chancellor of the University, Proffessor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche explained that the institution had not been able to hold the convocation ceremonies since 2015, stressing that the convocation which could have been held in 2020 was cacelled due to the advent of Covid-19 in the country. Proffessor Marietu Ohunene Tenuche , who is the first female vice chancellor of the university, said the citadel of learning graduated a total of 20,634 students from 2014/2015- 2019/2020 academics sessions. According to her, out of 20,634 graduates, a total of 60 made first class, while no fewer than 80 made ordinary pass. She said in adition the University also graduated now fewer for 1600 from the school of Post Graduate Studies with 87 phD degrees, 556 masters degrees, 97 postgraduates diplomas and 138 diploma certificates.

Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde praised the Nigerian Army for its achievements in ensuring security of lives and property in the state. Following the relative peace being achieved in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni yesterday lifted the 10 years ban on the use of motorcycles in Yobe North and South of the state. Governor Buni lifted the suspension and restored the use of motorcycles in 10 local government areas. The local government areas are Gashua, Jakuso, Machina, Yusufari, Nguru, Karasuwa, Potiskum, Fune, Nangere and Fika. Buni commended the residents for their resilience and patience during the 10 years of suspension of motorcycles in the state, which came into effect at the height of the Boko Haram Insurgency. He said his administration was satisfied with the current security situation in the state, adding that security forces were still flushing out and arresting remnants of Boko Haram members and their collaborators. According to the governor, the lifting of the ban is meant to ease the hardship of citizens, facilitate easy transportation and cost-effective movement as well as enhance farming activities in the state.

The law against open gracing signed by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has begun to yield results, some stakeholders have said. Although cattle were seeing gracing openly in some obscure locations across the State, the incidence of clashes between farmers and herders that used to characterise their relationship had become less. Community leaders, a farmer and a fulani praised the State government for putting the anti-open gracing law in place, saying that since it was signed into law, there had been no conflict between herders and farmers and it would be difficult to obey the law prohibiting open gracing because ranching is very expensive and impracticable considering the prevailing economic situation in the country.

"Over time, this has hurt the All Progressives Congress (APC reputation )'s to the point where, based on the actions of party leaders and some elected officials, it is challenging to identify the All Progressives with its founding objective of change," he stated.

The Nigerian Army opened a free medical clinic as part of their commemoration of Military Forces Day in the state, and Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari was there. The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on North East (PINE), Gen Theophilus Danjuma, has stated that the federal government must spend at least N2 trillion as a short-term intervention to rebuild the war-ravaged North East states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa. Danjuma emphasized that the N2 trillion cannot solve the problem alone without the cooperation of all stakeholders within and outside the country. Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle has accused 'political Bandits' of increasing the figures of killings in the state. He disclosed this to State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He said, "Yes, I have already cleared the air about the figures. Because I have seen some reporting that 200 people, 300 people, 500 people were killed. "But I went to the community by myself and the security agencies. "But some people will just go to social media and be writting some figures and I have informed Mr. President of some people who think that with this insecurity they can achieve something out of it. Some people even swear with Koron that thousand of people have been killed which he noted is misleading.

Four girls kidnapped by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have been freed. The suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists released four girls from the 22 women and two men they abducted in three communities of Chibok local government area of Borno State. ISWAP terrorists had attacked Pemi on January 21, 2022, Kautikari on January 14 after the previous one on Korohuma in December 30,2021, where 22 women and two men were abducted, while four persons were killed as several houses were set ablaze. The four freed girls were among those abducted on Friday, 14th January, 2022. Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum was in Chibok town following the recent attacks on the three communities. He met families of the 22 women and two men abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP during the attack. After meeting the families, the governor interfaced with heads of security agencies and discussed gaps and ways to enhance security in the communities.

Cocoa and Plaintain Farmers Association of Nigeria (CPFAN) has concluded plans to establish food processing factories in all the six geopolitical zones in the country. The federal government is planning fresh investments of N3.5trillion in the Nigerian housing sector to address the 17 million housing deficit in the country. A group, Northern Youth Forum (NYF) based in the Southern part of Nigeria has called on the 19 Northern States' governors to secure the release of their people held in correctional centres in the South. He asked the governors and all other stakeholders in the north to wade into the matter and rescue such detainees who are sufferings from deliberate humiliation. Galadanci made the demand at a press conference the Northern Youth Forum (NYF) organized at the Conference Hall of Aminci Radio in Kano, yesterday. He said the northerners formed more than 75 percent of the total inmates in Lagos and others southern states correctional centres and these are people that were either arrested based on tribal or ethno-religious sentiments while going about their lawful businesses. Galadanci said the Northern Youth Forum under his watch had so far sought for and secured the release of 501 inmates especially those Found to be free of any criminal charge. however, Galadanci said Nigerians the northerners by law have the right to traverse across Nigeria and do their legitimate businesses anywhere they chose to do so without any hinderance. A 42 years-old man, Muhammad Sambo has been remanded in the Yola Correctional Centre in Adamawa State for allegedly killing his wife, Fadimatu. Sambo, from Sorau Belel in Maiha Local government area, was arraigned in court for  allegedly  killing his late wife Fadimatu Sambo. However, the prosecutors, Sergent Ahmed Abubakar, arraigned the accused before the court for the offence after the first information report was read to him. sambo allegedly attacked his wife on the 9th september, 2021, and secretly invited women to come and bath the dead body in order to bury it.

Due to a rise in food prices, Nigeria's inflation rate climbed by 0.23 percentage points, bringing the headline inflation rate in December 2021 to 15.63 percent, up from 15.4 percent the previous month. The headline was based on data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC) that showed a rise across all COICOP (classification of individual consumption according to purpose) divisions. The most significant price increases were observed in gas, liquid fuel, alcohol, actual and imputed housing rent, narcotics, cigarettes, clothing, footwear, and other materials used in clothing and footwear, as well as other articles of clothing and clothing accessories. They made a point of saying, "Food inflation on an annual basis peaked in December 2021."

The bill, titled: "An Act to amend the Trade Disputes Act, Cap T8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to prohibit medical practioners in the employment of federal, state, and local governments in the essential service sectors from embarking on strikes and to accelerate administrative and judicial proceedings in the determination of trade disputes involving them and related matters", is sponsored by a member of the House representing Enugu State, Simon Atige. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, said "It is laughable, where industrial relations are working optimally, strikes can be avoided and therefore, this is the provision of the law and I am sure that those proposing the bill are not aware of those laws, and those laws are very explicit".

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), Assembly Healthcare Professionals (AHPA), and Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors have all denounced the National Assembly's attempt to criminalize strikes in the health sector. They called the legislation draconian and it has already passed the House of Representatives' first reading. The Trade Disputes Act, Cap. T8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, was amended by the proposed law, An Act to amend the Trade Disputes Act, Cap. T8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, to forbid medical professionals employed by federal, state, and local governments in essential service sectors from going on strike and to quicken administrative and judicial processes for resolving trade disputes involving them and related issues.

No electorate would be denied the opportunity to vote in the upcoming local government election in the state, according to Ibrahim Bako, Chairman of the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC). In a briefing to journalists before the local government election, he issued the promise that the commission would do everything in its power to ensure that all eligible voters, even those who had been forced to leave because of persistent security issues, could cast their ballots. Additionally, he stated that the commission will rehire 19,608 ad hoc workers to help with the voting process in the 4,902 polling places that would be staffed with four people each. Operators of National Mail Route Delivery Service (NMRDS) Have appealed to the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to pay their members for services rendered before engaging a Chinese company, Speedaf Logistics Nigeria Limited, in mail delivery services in the country. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other opposing voices in Ebonyi State have been specifically targeted by accusations that the governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. He claimed that Hon. Linus Abaa Okorie, a prominent member of the House of Representatives, had just been listed as wanted by Umahi without any allegations or charges being brought against him.

Former Borno State governor and factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has warned the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) to abandon its move to the functions of the National Working Committee (NWC). Sheriff, who claims the BoT is an advisory body, argues that the party's constitution is intact and that the BoT's role is advisory. However, Sheriff's claim to party leadership has been set back when eight members of his NWC decided to abide by the proclamation of the national convention, which created a caretaker committee with Makarfi and Senator Ben Obi as chairman and secretary, respectively. The NWC members, including the former deputy national chairman, deputy national secretary, and national legal adviser, have also agreed to accept and work with Makarfi's team.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may not vote during its national convention on Saturday. However, he will be allowed to attend and address party members. PDP BoT chairman Walid Jibrin stated that the party is waiting for Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, and other Senators and House of Representatives to return to its fold. Atiku's return to the PDP is seen as a good omen for the party, as he was one of the founding fathers of the party. The party's national publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said that he could check the party's constitution to determine if Atiku is eligible to vote. Adeyeye alleged that overzealous government elements are trying to disrupt the convention to prevent it from holding. The PDP spokesman did not reveal the individuals involved in the alleged plot.

The choice was made during a retreat in Abuja to discuss the 2014 Act. During January 12 - January 14, 2022, PenCom held a retreat to identify key points that needed to be examined in the 2014 reform Act before moving forward with legislative action. Aisha Dahiru-Umar, director-general of PenCom, explained to the attendees during the retreat's opening ceremony how the Pension Reform Act 2014 codified one of the federal government's most significant socioeconomic reform initiatives, creating a pension industry with more than #13 trillion in pension assets.

Mr. Augustine Onwuamaegbu, national president of Person with Disability Initiative Nigeria, has described how he was adopted and tortured by alleged kidnappers on the Abuja-Kaduna motorway. The incident happened last week as he oversaw a group of volunteers distributing free working sticks, hearing aids, and other supplies to people with disabilities between the villages of Akilbu and Rijana along the Abuja-Kaduna road. Onwuamaegbu claimed that after being kidnapped and abused for two days by assailants sent by their political masters from Abuja, the assailants left him in a defenceless state in a bush before being rescued by some good Samaritans.

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed concern over the growing complaints and agitations by workers in states over unpaid salaries and allowances, despite a series of interventions by the federal government. The NGF chairman noted that the bailout funds and part of the fallout from the London-Paris Club that had been received by the states were properly expended to alleviate the plight of workers, but more had to be done. The governors urged the president to see to it that the 50% balance of the Paris Club refund is paid to the states not later than next month to enable them factor the money into their budgets.

The former commissioner for work in Kano State has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in connection with an alleged scheme by the Kano State government to violate his fundamental human rights with the aid of the police. Ahmed Gulak. "Those who authorised the operation be identified, whether within the police hierarchy or among distinguished policemen," they commanded. Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal signed the 2016 appropriation bill into law, promising to fully implement the budget for the benefit of the citizens. The late Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, the defunct presidential candidate of the National Republican Convention (NRC), exhibited true democratic culture and acts of sportsmanship when he conceded defeat and congratulated the late Chief MKO Abiola for winning the June 12, 1993 presidential election, according to All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who escorted the former governor of Lagos State to each person's home for condolences, hailed Tinubu as a godman who never forgets to intervene when people are in need following a disaster that befell them.

Reactions trailed the declaration by national leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC) and former Lagos State governor, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, to contest the 2023 presidential election. He said, he has informed the president about his ambition, saying it had been a lifelong dream. Tinubu said I've not set a parameter of limitation to the extent of how many people I will consult. You will soon hear; all you want to hear is the categorical declaration. When reminded that there are other contestants on the All Progressives Congress platform, Tinubu said he has the confident, vision, capacity to rule, build on the foundation of President Buhari and turn around Nigeria for better. Tinubu's declaration set the social media on the overdrive, with most Nigerians asking him to shelve his ambition.

Truckers under the auspices of the Council for Maritime Truck Unions and Association have reported extortions by hooligans along Lagos port access roads. Despite several calls and messages to the relevant government authority, the alleged illegality has continued in broad daylight without any check. The group has sent petitions and official letters to the government, but to no avail. The COMTUA has called on relevant authorities to address the criminal extortion and activities of the touts (sic) against its members, noting that no group has a monopoly on violence and aggression. It has been injured and killed by these criminals without any intervention from the authorities, and the maritime transport industry has been negatively affected by this extortion.

According to the Kaduna State administration, security officers in the state's Kwanan Bataro, Giwa Local Government area, killed five terrorists and prevented an attack. Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said in a statement released yesterday that the troops engaged in clearance patrols in the Giwa Local Government Area had received reliable information about terrorists moving toward the town of Fatika. He added that the troops had then mobilized to Marke and Ruheya in response.

The governor, Nasir el-Rufai, was stated to have expressed satisfaction with the operational feedback and praised the military for their prompt and astute handling of the intel they received, according to the statement.

Niger State received top marks for maternity and neonatal care from Prof. Hiippolite Amadi, a professor of medical engineering technology at Imperial College London, United Kingdom (UK). He made this statement soon after media were given a tour of the unit to assess the services being provided and the equipment deployed. He claimed to have visited every teaching hospital run by the federal and state governments in Nigeria and to have worked in neonatal care for more than 25 years. As a result, he ranked the state highly for its capacity, equipment, and special newborn care section.

Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement sais as briefly explained by the president in a special broadcast to the people of the state, the sudden deterioration of the weather was the "sole and only reason for the cancellation of the visit. He said, "A kilometre of visibility is usually a standard landing minimum requirement but in case of Gusau on the day in question, this minimum requirement of 1,000 meter was down, fluctuating between 300-400 meters. Clearly, this was unsafe in the absence of precise instrument approaches that provide guidance for the pilots. The flights into Gusau were, in view of this, cancalled. The statement on the issue by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) attacking the president for not making it to Gusau without this being planned ahead of the journey is shameful and disgraceful for a party that held the presidency of the country in rhe past. What is their own record.

The Yobe State government has pledged to support international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs), as well as to put development strategies into action for faster advancement. The Network of Yobe Civil Society Organisations (NYSCO) and a group of International Non-Governmental Organisations (INGOs) on Social Protection Policy (ACE, COOPL, MERCY CORP, DRC, and SCI) paid Governor Mai Mala Buni a visit to discuss the implementation of social protection policy in Yobe State. The governor was represented by his deputy and the chairman of the social protection policy council, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana. "It is indeed important to recognise your efforts in implementing the national policy, which is a combination of policies and programmes designed for individuals," the governor said.
