Three Borno human traffickers bag nine years jail The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has secured the conviction of three individuals—Umaru Wadai, Promise Utibe, and Ifeoma Ajoturah—for a total of nine years in prison. They were found guilty of selling human beings for exploitation and the attempted sale of a one-week-old baby girl in a Borno State High Court. Each defendant received a three-year sentence with an option of a N2m fine. This case highlights ongoing efforts by NAPTIP to combat human trafficking, building on previous convictions of other traffickers in Nigeria.
