Benue Alerts Residents to Suspected Lassa Fever Outbreak

The Benue State Epidemiologist, Dr Asema Msuega, on Sunday disclosed that the state has recorded seven new suspected cases of Lassa fever.Msuega noted that samples from the affected individuals have already been collected and sent for laboratory analysis for confirmation.Following the reported suspected cases, the state government has begun immediate public health response measures to address the situation.The epidemiologist said health authorities were closely monitoring developments, adding that “samples of the seven new suspected cases have been taken for confirmation.”The epidemiologist advised residents to promptly report symptoms such as fever, weakness, or unexplained bleeding to the nearest health facility, maintaining that early detection is key to effective treatment and control of the disease.The outbreak of Lassa fever has raised renewed concern among health authorities and residents of the state.
