Five Soldiers, Policeman Killed in Zamfara Ambush Suspected bandits reportedly killed five soldiers and one police officer during an ambush near Kekun village in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Monday. According to a security source who spoke anonymously, the attack occurred as security personnel were travelling to Gusau after completing a field operation. The assailants, said to have been concealed along the roadside, opened fire on the patrol team, killing six officers instantly and injuring several others. The wounded officers were rushed to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue. Attempts by journalists to access the hospital wards or morgue were unsuccessful, as hospital officials restricted entry. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the North-West Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain David Adewusi, stated that he had not yet received an official briefing on the incident, highlighting ongoing challenges in information flow amid persistent insecurity in the region.
